Sounds of Satoyama – Resonance with Nature Tatsuno City in Hyogo Prefecture, once a cultural and commercial hub of the ancient Harima region, has flourished as a historic castle town with a rich heritage. “Tatsuno Art” is an artistic initiative that not only preserves cultural assets but also aims to revitalize the region by showcasing its unique appeal both domestically and internationally. Since its launch in 2011, the project has placed great importance on active communication with local citizens, striving to create a space where people can gather and culture can be nurtured. The exhibition Something I Like is looking back on the three decades of the museum operations within a broader spectrum of the activities of the Manggha Museum of Japanese Art and Technology. The focus is on our institution’s museum function in its strict and fundamental sense as, being a museum, what we do is gather, research, and make accessible to the public various collections acquired over decades. While this exhibition may seem typical of our institution – each milestone anniversary has provided an opportunity to showcase the Manggha’s steadily growing collection – it stands apart due to the concept behind this year’s selection of objects.
